Rod Rings

Oil Wipers

Oil wiper packing plays a critical role in maintaining reciprocating compressor reliability, preventing crankcase oil from contaminating downstream components and processes.Properly functioning wiper packing also reduces oil consumption and costs, while protecting the environment from leakage.

Cook Compression wiper rings are optimized for each application and constructed of materials that provide the optimum balance of strength, flexibility and durability. Oil wipers are typically in a two- or three-ring arrangement.

Piston Rings and Riders

Cook Compression is a worldwide leader in the design and production of precision-made piston ring seals and rider rings.

Cook Compression optimizes rider ring geometry, features, dimensions and materials to reduce loads and provide maximum service life, even in the most demanding applications.

​Cook piston rings are engineered to limit leakage with lasting reliability.

All piston ring and rider materials are tested and validated through engineering analyses and Cook’s in-house materials laboratory and test compressors. Materials include cast iron, bronze, specially engineered alloys and high-performance thermoplastics.

COOK CLEAN™ Sealing System

A next-generation sealing system that helps lower fugitive emissions from packing cases to near zero levels (0.75 SCFM). COOK CLEAN sealing systems are designed to help reciprocating compressor owners and operators meet emission regulations, maximize natural gas recovery, increase compressor efficiency and reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

Components of the COOK CLEAN sealing system include the following advanced technologies:

  • Low-emission, solid ring solutions that help eliminate leak paths.

  • Advanced technologies for purge and vent seals that create a virtually leak-proof environment, reduce frictional heat and extend the service life of the seal rings and packing case.

  • Ultra-smooth packing cup surfaces and spiral wound gasket for a superior seal.

TruTech® High Performance Materials

Incorporating the latest advances in polymer science, TruTech™ materials from Cook Compression provide superior durability and optimum performance characteristics for reciprocating compressor components, including packing rings, wiper rings, piston rings and rider rings.

The TruTech family includes PTFE, UHMWPE, PEEK, PPS, polyimide and other high-temperature aromatic polymer materials.

Special formulations provide high-performance sealing and lasting reliability for even the most demanding non-lubricated, dry-gas and high-temperature applications.

Gas Flow Measurement

Sentrix™ flow measurement technology provides highly accurate, easy-to-use solutions for measuring and tracking packing case vent flow in gas compressors.

Sentrix meters, which provide direct measurement of gases, are convenient, cost-effective solutions for meeting US EPA Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rule Subpart W (40 CFR Part 98). The high accuracy of thermal mass flow measurement satisfies BAMM (Best Available Measurement Methods) requirements and is the only technology capable of measuring extremely low leakage from packing cases.
